Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then to northern France for an overnight stay.
We continue to our hotel on the edge of Lake Lucerne.
We visit Hammetschwand Lift today, where we climb over 150m to enjoy magnificent views across Lake Lucerne, Stanserhorn, Pilatus and the Bernese Alps. We start by taking the funicular to the Burgenstock Resort before enjoying a walk of around 45-60 minutes to access the lift.
For this reason, this excursion is not suitable for passengers with limited mobility.
Today we enjoy a ride on the Stanserhorn Cable Car, the world’s first Cabrio cable car famous for an outside deck with nothing but the fresh air above you. We start by experiencing the nostalgia of the funicular railway, which dates back to 1893, before the cable car takes you to the summit where astonishing views and a revolving restaurant await.
We take a trip on the Rigi Railway today, Europe’s first mountain railway built in 1871. During this 30 minute trip we climb over 1000m to take in the 360 degree views from the summit, passing grazing cows, traditional farms and colourful wildflower meadows.
Another awe-inspiring journey today as we enjoy a ride on the world’s steepest cogwheel railway, the Pilatus Railway. Through woods and tunnels, across flowery meadows and along rocky outcrops, we climb over 2000m before the cable car returns you to ground level in Kriens, from where we return to our hotel.
Our final excursion is to the world’s first revolving gondola. We will climb Mount Titlis, the highest summit in central Switzerland, crossing steep rocky walls, deep crevasses and snow-covered summits whilst turning 360 degrees during the five minute journey. At the top, the daredevils amongst you can walk across Europe’s highest suspension bridge, the Skywalk!
We depart Lake Lucerne today and travel back to Northern France for our overnight stay.
